About Bernedoodle
You want a goofball dog? We’ll give you a goofball dog. A big, floppy, curly goon of a Bernedoodle!
A Bernedoodle is part Bernese Mountain Dog and part Poodle. Bernese Mountain Dogs are very large, so the size is more determined by the poodle. A mini Bernedoodle will weigh somewhere between 25-50 lbs, and a standard will weigh between 70-90 lbs. Their coloring can vary widely based on both the poodle coloring.
Bernedoodles are fun-loving, people-loving and extremely smart. They are generally happy, and as long as they are able to be with their human(s), they are satisfied. They typically like the outdoors and playtime for them is a must! They do not like being left alone, and because they are so intelligent, can turn to mischief when bored.
Training a Bernedoodle is typically easy, because they are so smart. Intelligence can be a double-edged sword, because as puppies this can lead to them being a bit stubborn. This fades with age. They require significant exercise to keep their brain and body exercised. This helps solve most behavioral issues. A large yard is best, but if they don’t have access to that, regular exercise with their owner outside will do. They require regular grooming and need to be brushed at least once a week. They may require extra ear cleaning. Bernedoodle life span varies based on their size. If they are larger, they are prone to gastric torsion (bloat) so talk to your vet about gastropexy.
